I recently tested out some methods for obtaining a clean, brush stroke free finish while painting with chalk paint. Most people want the stroked looked, but sometimes it is nice to have a clean finish. Here are a few ways to obtain the clean look:
- Don’t use too much paint. Chalk paint is thick. You don’t need to blob a ton of paint on the brush.
- Dip your brush in a cup of water first and then dip it into your chalk paint. This waters down the paint a little bit, but it removes brush marks when painting your object. (Warning…you may have to do two to three coats of paint with this method).
- If you already painted your object and you don’t like the way it came out, you can use sandpaper to destress the object. This also takes out any brushstrokes you may have created in the painting process.
What other methods do you use for a clean finish when using chalk paint? Let me know in the comments!
